Several years down the line, I traveled to the site of the Dance in an attempt to retrace the steps of ███. From the various scraps they and the other Cult members left, I was able to piece together a decent amount of what happened that night though there are certainly gaps. At a certain point in the night, I thought I had lost the trail and was about to call it quits when suddenly, I felt it: that familiar mixture of dread and excitement.

He is much weaker now, only a vague sensation distributed amongst the trees, and yet I can still hear him whisper: “Make me… build me...”. I shudder, then shrug it off and pretend like I didn’t. There’s no reason to fear him now: I’ve already done his bidding, at least to the best of my ability. I close my eyes for a moment, breathe, and listen to the soft breeze rustling through the leaves above. Then I turn and head back to my car.
